The Class D work program consists of state prisoners who are convicted of Class D felonies and have been sentenced to less than 5 years. Once these prisoners are sentenced, they are classified and assigned a security level by the State Department of Corrections (no sexual offenders are eligible). If their security is minumum, they are eligible to participate.
Our program only performs work for the government and non-profit agencies, and this work is done free of charge. The inmates are paid by the state for working. It can also help to reduce their sentence. Inmates are initially supervised by a deputy jailer. Later, if their performance is adequate, they can be promoted to a community job with civilian supervision.
The Class D Program provides over 100,000 hours of community service for Bowling Green and Warren County.
